Berwick Lady Panthers top Ascension Catholic for 1st win

The Berwick Lady Panthers earned their first win of the season Thursday with a 53-42 victory against Ascension Catholic in Donaldsonville.
Madison Carline led Berwick with 30 points. Other top Berwick scorers were Maci Broussard, nine, and Arriana Jones, eight.
Berwick (1-3) will return to action Friday when it travels to face Catholic High-New Iberia.
Houma Christian
routs CCHS
Houma Christian defeated Central Catholic 58-15 in first-day action at Vandebilt Catholic’s Jack Becker Classic Thursday.
Alayah Poole and Yani Johnson led Central Catholic with seven points each, while Lay Bertrand had two points.
Central Catholic (1-2) will continue play in the tournament Friday when it meets Edna Karr at 4:45 p.m.
CCHS defeats
South Lafourche (boys)
Central Catholic defeated South Lafourche 57-39 in first-day action at Assumption’s tournament Thursday.
Brooks Thomas led Central Catholic with 23 points, while Davidyione Bias also reached double figures with 11. Other Central Catholic scorers were Taylor Blanchard, nine; D.J. Lewis, six; Tyler Smith, four; Bently Alcina, three; and Demondrick Blackburn, one.
Central Catholic (202) will return to action this weekend at the tournament, meeting St. Charles Friday at 5 p.m. and Vandebilt Catholic Saturday at 3 p.m.
Morgan City defeats Franklin
Morgan City defeated Franklin 51-46 in first-day action at Centerville’s tournament Thursday.
Deondre Grogan led three Tigers in double figures with 14 points. Other Morgan City scorers were Jared Singleton and Kerwin Francois, 12 each; Tyland Boatman, nine; Nylan Francis, three; and Zion Landry, one.
Morgan City (3-2) will return to action in the tournament this weekend when it faces Centerville Friday at 6:30 p.m. The Tigers will close the tournament with a 2 p.m. contest Saturday against West St. Mary.
Assumption cruises
past Berwick (boys)
The Assumption Mustangs defeated the Berwick Panthers 89-33 in first-day action at Assumption’s tournament Thursday.
Dayton Clark led Berwick with 15 points. Other Berwick scorers were Blain Louviere, nine; Hunter Seneca, six; and George Boston, three.
Berwick (0-5) will return to action in the tournament this weekend when it meets East Iberville Friday at 3:30 p.m. before closing the tournament Saturday with a 1:30 p.m. contest against St. Charles.
Patterson falls to Thibodaux
Thibodaux defeated Patterson 54-45 in first-day action at Assumption’s tournament
No individual Patterson stats were available.
Patterson (1-1) will return to action Friday when it meets South Lafourche at 6:30 p.m. before closing the tournament Saturday with a 3 p.m. contest against H.L. Bourgeois.
