Annual Singles for Dollars Horseshoe Tourney held

Singles for Dollars Horseshoe Tournament

Tournament format: Blind draw, handicap, count-all format. Winners of each bracket would then advance to championship round.
Class Purple
First place, Tim Gilmore, Bayou Vista, 5 wins-1 loss, 66.7 ringer percentage; second place, Angela Percle, Morgan City, 5-2, 47.9; and third place, Jimmy Caillouet, Raceland, 4-2, 23.8.
After regulation with a three-way tie in play, Percle defeated Caillouet in a 40 shoe-playoff game and then lost to Gilmore (who drew the bye) in a 40-shoe game.
Class Gold
First, Loren Williams, Lake Charles, 5-2, 25.4; second, Clyde Landry, Pierre Part, 4-3, 30.4; and third, Dwain Arceneaux, Thibodaux, 3-3, 33.3.
After regulation there was a four-way tie. In 40-shoe games, Williams defeated Pertuit; Landry defeated Arceneaux; then Williams defeated Landry to advance.
Class White
First, Sharla Fontenot, Lacassine, 5-0, 38.5; second, Ricky Richard, Church Point, 4-1, 41.0; and third, Benita Williams, Lake Charles, 2-3, 6.0.
Class Blue
First, Randy Giroir, Morgan City, 7-0, 29.5; second, Joe Primeaux, Broussard, 5-2, 11.2; and third, Ron Smith, Lake Charles, 4-3, 29.2.
Class Red
First, Pat Pertuit, Marrero, 7-0, 44.4; second, Mary Begnaud, Lacassine, 5-2, 36.7; and third, Danny Navarre, Carlyss, 5-2, 27.5,
Championship Round
First, Gilmore, Tournament Champion, 3-1, 66.9; second, Giroir, 2-2, 28.1; third, Fontenot, 1-2, 22.2; fourth, Pertuit, 1-2, 41.7; and fifth, Loren Williams, 0-4, 25.4.
After regulation, Giroir and Gilmore were tied and forced a 40-shoe playoff. Gilmore defeated Giroir and claimed Tournament Championship.
