Police: Driver, 92, hospitalized after Berwick crash

A 92-year-old woman was hospitalized Friday afternoon after the vehicle she was driving struck another vehicle on La. 182 in Berwick, Assistant Police Chief J.P. Henry said.

Berwick police responded to a two-vehicle crash at 3:53 p.m. Friday on La. 182 near Boudreaux Street. Police learned that a vehicle driven by Annanell Rhodes, 92, of Berwick, was turning out of the Dollar General parking lot across La. 182 to Patterson State Bank in Berwick when the vehicle struck another vehicle traveling west on the highway, Henry said.

Rhodes was transported via Acadian Ambulance to a hospital. The extent of her injuries was unknown, Henry said. No other injuries were reported in the crash. A citation for careless operation of a motor vehicle with a crash is pending against Rhodes, he said. Both vehicles sustained moderate damage.
