Patterson defeats South Terrebonne
The Patterson Lumberjacks rallied from a halftime deficit to defeat the South Terrebonne Gators 45-40 in first-day action at Central Catholic’s tournament.
While Patterson trailed 30-20 at halftime, the Lumberjacks outscored South Terrebonne 13-2 in the third quarter for a 33-32 lead after three periods of play. In the fourth quarter, Patterson outscored South Terrebonne 12-6.
Early on, South Terrebonne led 10-9 after a quarter, and the Gators extended their lead by halftime after outscoring Patterson 20-11 in the second period.
Elijah Williams led Patterson with 17 points. Other Patterson scorers were: Kyler Paul, 10; Tyrone Tillman, eight; Josiah Jennings, six; and Dillon Gunner and Tylon Walton, two each.
Patterson (11-8) will return to action in the tournament this weekend when it meets Denham Springs Friday at 4:30 p.m. before concluding the tournament Saturday with a 9 a.m. contest against Terrebonne.
The Central Catholic Eagles fell to Terrebonne 59-58 in both teams’ opener at Central Catholic’s tournament Thursday.
Terrebonne hit the game-winner via a three-pointer from half court with 1.8 seconds left.
Terrebonne, which trailed 43-41 entering the final period, outscored Central Catholic 18-15 in the fourth.
Early on, Central Catholic led 15-12 after a period before Terrebonne outscored it 17-13 in the second period for a 29-28 halftime lead. Central Catholic outscored Terrebonne 15-12 in the third period.
Tyler Smith led Central Catholic with 13 points. Other Central Catholic scorers were: Taylor Blanchard and Davidyione Bias, 12 each; D.J. Lewis, nine; Demondrick Blackburn, seven; Kye Morgel, three; and Michael-Anthony Hill, two.
Monday in its tournament finale at E.D. White’s Cardinal Classic, Central Catholic defeated South Lafourche 62-59 in overtime.
After the teams finished regulation tied at 45, Central Catholic outscored South Lafourche 17-14 in the extra period.
Early on, South Lafourche led 12-10 after a period of play and took a 26-23 lead into halftime. Central Catholic tied the game at 35 after three quarters after outscoring South Lafourche 12-9 in the period. The teams each scored 10 points in the fourth quarter.
Blanchard led three Eagles in double figures with 20 points. Other Central Catholic scorers were: Bias, 19; Lewis, 17; Morgel, three; Smith, two; and Blackburn, one
Central Catholic (7-6) will return to action in its tournament Friday with a 7:30 p.m. contest against Lutcher before concluding the tournament with a 1:30 p.m. contest against Denham Springs Saturday.
