Patterson, CCHS win district titles

The Patterson Lumberjacks won the District 9-3A title after defeating Lutcher 51-46 at the District 9-3A Tournament Friday at St. James.
No individual stats were available.
Patterson (23-10) now will await its playoff seeding and opponent, both of which will be announced Monday. The Lumberjacks will play at home in round one.

The Central Catholic Eagles concluded District 8-1A play with a perfect record, defeating Vermilion Catholic 78-64 in its regular-season finale on the road Friday.
Central Catholic led 16-9 after a quarter, took a 29-24 lead into halftime and led 55-42 after three periods of play.
Damondrick Bla-ckburn led four Eagles in double figures with 19 points. Other Central Catholic scorers were as follows: Tyler Smith and Taylor Blanchard, 18 each; D.J. Lewis, 15; Kye Morgel, five; and Davidyione Bias, three.
Central Catholic (19-11) now will await its playoff opponent and seeding, both of which will be announced Monday.
Morgan City
wins finale
The Morgan City Tigers used a huge second half to rout Vandebilt Catholic 51-20 in their regular-season and District 8-4A finale in Morgan City Thursday.
Leading just 17-13 at halftime, Morgan City outscored Vandebilt Catholic 38-7 in the second half. Morgan City held a 22-5 scoring advantage in the third quarter and finished the game by outscoring Vandebilt Catholic 16-2 in the fourth period.
Early on, Morgan City led 11-7 after a quarter, while each team scored six points in the second period.
Morgan City finishes its season with a 9-20 overall record and a 2-8 mark in district play.
