North Vermilion defeats Berwick Lady Panthers 40-38

The Berwick Lady Panthers fell to North Vermilion 40-38 in Berwick in District 8-3A action Friday.
Madison Carline led Berwick with 24 points. Other Berwick scorers were Maci Broussard, 10; and Ariana Jones and Sam Kinchen, two each.
Berwick (4-15 overall, 1-6 in district) will return to action Tuesday when it hosts David Thibodaux in district play.
Panthers fall to Patriots
The Berwick Panthers fell 54-32 to North Vermilion in District 8-3A action in Berwick Friday.
Dayton Clark led Berwick with 16 points. Other Berwick scorers were Hunter Seneca, seven; Blain Louviere, six; Jamerson Williams, two; and Chris Jones, one.
Berwick (1-19, 1-4) will return to action Tuesday when it hosts David Thibodaux in league play.
Vandebilt Catholic
tops MCHS
The Morgan City Lady Tigers fell to Vandebilt Catholic 51-39 on the road Friday in both teams’ District 7-4A opener.
While the game was tied at 11 after a quarter, Vandebilt Catholic outscored Morgan City 18-5 in the second period for a 29-16 halftime advantage. Morgan City outscored Vandebilt Catholic 19-15 in the third period to cut its deficit to 45-35 after three periods of play, but the teams combined for just 10 fourth-quarter points for the final margin.
No individual Morgan City stats were available.
The Lady Tigers (11-8, 0-1) will return to action Tuesday when they host Assumption in District 7-4A action.
CCHS falls to
Assumption
The Central Catholic Lady Eagles fell to Assumption 55-43 on the road in nondistrict action Thursday.
Assumption led 17-10 after a quarter before Central Catholic outscored the home team 12-9 in the second period. The Lady Eagles trailed 26-22 at halftime. Assumption outscored Central Catholic 20-15 in the third period for a 46-37 lead after three quarters.
Yani Johnson led Central Catholic with 28 points. Other Central Catholic scorers were Jalaysia Bertrand, six; Sydney Williams, five; and Laurielle Bias, four.
Central Catholic (6-15) will return to action Tuesday when it opens District 7-1A action at Vermilion Catholic.
