MCHS' Singleton is an honorable mention Class 4A All-State selection

The Morgan City High School Lady Tigers had one member of their girls’ basketball team earn Louisiana Sports Writers Association Class 4A All-State honorable mention honors.
Senior guard Alisha Singleton netted the honor.
“Alisha had a great season,” Morgan City High School coach Duriel Singleton said. “She worked hard and gave us all she could. She improved in all areas of the game. She became a better ball handler, smarter passer and great shooter.”
Singleton finished her final season as a Lady Tiger with per-game averages of 16.1 points, 0.7 rebound, 3.5 steals and 6.1 assists.
“I wish I had a team full of Alisha Singletons but only a little taller,” Singleton said. “She didn’t let her height limit her, either. She drove the ball to the basketball against and wasn’t afraid of contact. She didn’t see a shot she couldn’t make, so I let her shoot it.”
Morgan City finished its season with a 13-15 record, falling to Bossier in the Class 4A first round.
Kourtney Weber of Division II state champion Ursuline Academy is the Outstanding Player, while Darius Mimms of Class 4A state champion Warren Easton is the Coach of the Year.
Other girls basketball players from District 7-4A, in which Morgan City competes, who made the all-state squad, were: Tray Bruce of South Lafourche, first-team; Chloe Fleming of South Terrebonne, honorable mention; Ra’Von Robertson of Assumption, honorable mention; Marghan Frierson of Ellender, honorable mention; and Orien James of Ellender, honorable mention.
