Franklin dominates Patterson in 73-29 win

Franklin High School defeated the Patterson Lumberjills 73-29 at Patterson Tuesday.
Franklin led 25-6 after a quarter, 38-22 at halftime and 58-28 after three periods of play.
Zorrie Spain led Patterson with 19 points. Other scorers were Deasha Williams, six, and Nyla Phillips, four.
Patterson (1-4) will return to action Thursday when it begins play in Centerville’s tournament with a 3:30 p.m. contest against West St. Mary.
CCHS defeats St. John
Central Catholic defeated St. John 49-45 in Plaquemine Tuesday.
The Lady Eagles, who trailed 24-22 at halftime, outscored St. John 18-6 in the third period for a 40-30 lead.
While St. John bounced back in the fourth quarter with a 15-9 scoring advantage, it wasn’t enough.
Early on, St. John led 13-10 after the first quarter, and Central Catholic held a 12-11 scoring advantage in the second period.
Yani Johnson led Central Catholic with 24 points. Other Central Catholic scorers were Lexi Landry, 11; Laurielle Bias, eight; and Charlotte Callais, Caitlyn Picou and Brie Johnson, two each.
Central Catholic (3-1) will return to action Friday when it begins play at Vandebilt Catholic’s 2019 Jack Becker Classic in Houma. Central Catholic will play two games Friday, meeting Helen Cox at 4:45 p.m. and Thibodaux at 7:30 p.m.
Berwick falls
to Loreauville
The Berwick Lady Panthers fell on the road to Loreauville 46-43 Tuesday.
Lay Bertrand led Berwick with 30 points.
Berwick (2-2) will return to action Thursday when it hosts Westminster Christian. Action is set to begin at approximately 6 p.m.
Morgan City falls
to E.D. White
The Morgan City Lady Tigers fell to E.D. White in Thibodaux Tuesday 52-34.
No individual Morgan City stats were submitted.
Morgan City (1-4) will return to action Thursday when it travels to face Jeanerette. Junior varsity girls’ action will start at 5 p.m. with varsity to follow.
Patterson routs
Jeanerette (boys)
The Patterson Lumberjacks routed Jeanerette on the road 83-54 Tuesday.
Patterson outscored Jeanerette in every quarter, taking a 15-12 lead after a period of play, a 35-25 halftime advantage and a 58-33 lead after three periods of play.
Kai Schexnayder led four Lumberjacks in double figures with 20 points. Other Patterson scorers were Elijah Williams, 14; Tyrone Tillman, 13; Kyler Paul, 11; Randy Paul Jr., six; Dillon Gunner and Tylon Walton, four each; James Gash, three; and Louis Jones, Randean Paul, Josiah Jennings and C.J. Johnson, two each.
Patterson (3-2) will return to action Thursday when it meets H.L. Bourgeois at 3:30 p.m. in first-day action at the Jordan Mills Spur 70 Shootout, which is Assumption High’s tournament.
Morgan City defeats
West St. Mary
Morgan City outscored West St. Mary 33-11 in the second half to overcome a first-half deficit en route to a 51-40 victory in Baldwin Tuesday.
While Morgan City trailed 29-18 at halftime, Morgan City outscored West St. Mary 21-7 in the third period for a 39-36 lead after three quarters. The Tigers continued their scoring dominance in the fourth quarter with a 12-4 scoring advantage for the final margin.
Early on, West St. Mary took a 17-6 lead after a period of play, and each team scored 12 points in the second quarter.
Tyland Boatman led three Tigers in double figures with 17 points. Other Morgan City scorers were Devonta Grogan, 16; Nylan Francois, 12; Leo Garret, three; Tylan Bennet, two; and Lorenzo Johnson, one.
Morgan City (3-2) will return to action Thursday when it meets Westgate at 5 p.m. in first-day action at Centerville’s Tourney of the Teche.
