Covenant Christian defeats MCHS 13-10
The Morgan City Tigers fell to Covenant Christian Academy 13-10 in first-day action at Berwick’s Panther Classic.
While Morgan City held leads of 7-3 after an inning and 8-4 after two complete, Covenant Christian scored six runs in the bottom of the third for a 10-8 advantage. Covenant Christian led 11-9 after four innings and 13-9 after five complete. Morgan City scored a run in the sixth inning to conclude the scoring.
Logan Metrejean led Morgan City’s offense with a 3-for-5 performance with an RBI and a run scored. Other top Morgan City offensive contributors were as follows: Chris Pitre, 2-for-3, a double and three runs scored; Will LaRocca, 1-for-4, a triple, an RBI, a stolen base and a run scored; Dylan Tingle, 1-for-3, three RBIs; Kris Prejeant, 2-for-4, an RBI and a run scored; Kyle Ring, 1-for-3, an RBI and two runs scored; Hayden Barron, 1-for-4, an RBI; and Keegan Lange, an RBI and a run scored.
LaRocca suffered the loss. In 2.2 innings, he surrendered six runs — five earned — on four hits with three walks and two strikeouts.
Tingle started the game but was unable to get an out, surrendering three runs — three earned — on one hit with two walks and one hit batter.
Morgan City (2-4) will return to action Saturday when it meets Central Catholic in an 11:30 a.m. contest before closing the tournament with a 4:30 p.m. game against Kenner Discovery.
Berwick drops game
The Berwick Panthers dropped their first game of the season Thursday, falling 7-5 to Terrebonne at Berwick’s Panther Classic.
No individual Berwick stats were available.
Berwick (5-1) will return to action Friday when it meets Central Catholic in a 6:30 p.m. contest before concluding the tournament Saturday with a 2 p.m. contest against Covenant Christian.
