CCHS Lady Eagles defeat Jeanerette
Central Catholic eased past Jeanerette 54-19 Tuesday on the road.
The Lady Eagles led 12-3 after a quarter, 26-11 at halftime and 32-15 after three quarters.
Yani Johnson led three Lady Eagles in double figures with 16 points. Other Central Catholic scorers were Lexi Landry, 12; Charlotte Callais, 10; Laurielle Bias, six; and Kamille Lightfoot, Jade Oliney, Ava Nicar, Mary Alice Dohmann and Gweneth Dohmann, two each.
Central Catholic (6-3) will return to action Wednesday when it hosts West St. Mary in a 6 p.m. contest
Berwick falls Tuesday
The Berwick Lady Panthers fell to Covenant Christian 40-36 Tuesday on the road.
No individual stats were available.
Monday, the Lady Panthers fell at home to Ascension Catholic 69-61 in overtime.
While regulation ended with the score tied at 57, Ascension Catholic outscored Berwick 12-4 in overtime for the victory.
Early on, Berwick led 18-8 after a quarter, but Ascension Catholic came roaring back in the second period with a 20-8 scoring advantage for a 28-26 halftime lead.
Berwick led 46-41 after three quarters, but Ascension Catholic held a 16-11 fourth-quarter scoring edge to force overtime.
Lay Bertrand led Berwick with 33 points. Other Berwick scorers were Bronwyn Colbert, 18; Emily Lousteau, three; Arianna Jones, Lily Eues and Anesia Malveaux, two each; and Bethanie Coleman, one.
Berwick (2-5) will return to action Wednesday when it travels to face the Academy of Sacred Heart of New Orleans in a 6 p.m. contest.
Patterson splits games
The Patterson Lumberjills split their two games this week, defeating Hanson Memorial Monday and falling to Central Lafourche Tuesday.
Monday, Patterson defeated Hanson Memorial 46-43.
Zorrie Spain led Patterson with 26 points. Other Patterson scorers were Nyla Phillips and Kailani Harris, six each; Brianna Simon, three; Deasha Williams and Randalyn Paul, two each; and Keatyn Harden, one.
Tuesday, the Lumberjills fell to Central Lafourche 55-15.
Patterson (4-5) will return to action Thursday when it hosts Jeanerette.
MCHS wins on the road
The Morgan City Lady Tigers defeated Mentorship Academy 53-40 on the road Monday.
While Morgan City trailed 11-10 after a quarter, the Lady Tigers outscored Mentorship Academy in the next three quarters, taking a 25-21 halftime lead and a 35-30 lead after three periods of play.
Deryon Johnson led three Lady Tigers in double figures with 18 points. Other Morgan City scorers were Nikeisha Paddio, 16; Haylie Crappell, 12; Ta’Lea Smith, four; and Nari Clark, three.
Morgan City (3-5) will return to action Thursday when it travels to play Highland Baptist. Junior varsity action is set for a 5:30 p.m. start with varsity to follow.
