CCHS finishes weekend 3-0; MCHS is 1-1

The Central Catholic Eagles finished 3-0 this weekend in Berwick’s Panther Classic with wins against Berwick, Terrebonne and Morgan City.
Friday, Central Catholic defeated Berwick 4-1.
Trent Hillen earned the win. In seven innings, he surrendered one earned run on three hits with two walks, one hit batter and struck out 10.
Offensively, Caleb Menina and Hugh Hamer led Central Catholic’s offense. Caleb Menina finished 1-for-3 with a home run, three RBIs and a run scored, while Hugh Hamer was 2-for-4 with a stolen base and a run scored. Philip Guarisco added an RBI.
Saturday, Central Catholic defeated Terrebonne 11-8.
Nathan Hebb earned the win in relief. In three innings, he surrendered four runs — four earned — on five hits with two walks and two strikeouts.
Menina started the game for Central Catholic, and in four innings, he surrendered four runs — one earned — on three hits with five walks, one hit batter and six strikeouts.
Offensively, Nathan Hebb led Central Catholic with a 3-for-4 performance with a double and a run scored. Other top Central Catholic offensive contributors were as follows: Grant Stansbury, 1-for-4 with a double and three RBIs; Luke Barbier, 2-for-4, two RBIs and two runs scored; Hamer, 2-for-5, two RBIs and a run scored; Carter Williams, 1-for-4, two RBIs; and Guarisco, an RBI.
In its finale at the tournament Saturday, Central Catholic run-ruled Morgan City 15-1 in five innings.
Hamer and Hebb led Central Catholic’s offense. Hamer finished 1-for-3 with a triple, two RBIs and two runs scored, while Hebb was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Other top Central Catholic offensive contributors were as follows: Williams, 1-for-2 with two RBIs and a run scored; Stansbury, 1-for-1, an RBI and three runs scored; Ryan Miller and Gunnar Theriot, each 1-for-1 with an RBI and a run scored; Philip Guarisco, 1-for-1, an RBI; Barbier, 1-for-4, an RBI; and Menina, an RBI and two runs scored.
Barbier and Tyler Templet combined to surrender just three hits. Barbier earned the win. In four innings, he surrendered one earned run on two hits with four walks and four strikeouts.
In one inning of relief, Templet surrendered one hit, one walk and fanned one.
MCHS is 1-1
The Morgan City Tigers finished 1-1 this weekend at Berwick’s Panther Classic, falling to Central Catholic and defeating Kenner Discovery.
Against Central Catholic, Morgan City fell 15-1 in five innings.
Hayden Barron led Morgan City with a 1-for-2 performance with a double, while Chris Pitre added an RBI.
Kris Prejeant suffered the loss. In 2.1 innings, he surrendered 12 runs — 12 earned — on eight hits with one walk and seven hit batters.
Later Saturday, Morgan City run-ruled Kenner Discovery 18-2 in five innings.
Of Morgan City’s 15 hits, nine were for extra bases. The Tigers had six doubles and three triples.
Logan Metrejean and Will LaRocca led Morgan City’s offense. Metrejean was 3-for-5 with a double, two RBIs, a stolen base and two runs scored, while LaRocca finished 2-for-3 with a double, a triple, an RBI and three runs scored. Other top Morgan City offensive contributors were as follows: Pitre, 2-for-3 with a triple, three RBIs, a stolen base and three runs scored; Barron, 2-for-4, a triple, an RBI, a stolen base and three runs scored; Prejeant, 2-for-3, a double, two RBIs and a run scored; Dylan Tingle, 2-for-4, a double, two RBIs and a run scored; Kyle Ring, 1-for-2, a double, two RBIs, three stolen bases and three runs scored; Andy Gros, 1-for-4, a double and two runs scored; and Keegan Lange, an RBI.
Barron, Metrejean and Ethan Blanco combined to surrender just two hits.
Barron earned the win as he surrendered two earned runs on no hits with four walks, two hit batters and one strikeout in 2.2 innings. Metrejean pitched 1.1 innings of relief and surrendered one hit and one walk, while Blanco pitched an inning and surrendered one hit while striking out one.
Berwick finishes 0-2
The Berwick Panthers finished the weekend 0-2 at its tournament, falling to Central Catholic and Covenant Christian.
Friday, Berwick fell to Central Catholic 4-1.
Dayton Clark led Berwick with a 1-for-3 performance with a double and a run, while Eric Guillot was 1-for-3 with an RBI.
Evan Thomas suffered the loss. In 3.2 innings, he surrendered four earned runs on three hits with one walk, two hit batters and two strikeouts.
Saturday, Berwick fell to Covenant Christian 9-3.
No individual stats were submitted.
Patterson falls
to Kaplan
The Patterson Lumberjacks dropped a three-game series to Kaplan Friday and Saturday.
Friday, Patterson fell to Kaplan 3-1 in Kaplan.
Josiah Jennings and Drake Dinger led Patterson’s offense. Jennings was 1-for-3 with a double, while Dinger was 1-for-1 with an RBI.
Joseph Larson suffered the loss. In six innings, he surrendered three runs — one earned — on eight hits with two walks and six strikeouts.
Saturday, the teams played a doubleheader at Patterson.
In game one, Kaplan defeated Patterson 5-4.
Larson led Patterson’s offense as he finished 2-for-3 with an RBI and a stolen base. Other top Patterson offensive contributors were Jennings, 2-for-4; and Don Diaz, an RBI.
Diaz suffered the loss. In 5.1 innings, he surrendered four runs — four earned — on six hits with two walks and three strikeouts.
In game two, Kaplan defeated Patterson 4-0.
Offensive leaders for Patterson were as follows: Dylan Fabre, Reid Perkins and Dinger, all 1-for-2; and Diaz and Jennings, each 1-for-3.
Diaz suffered the loss as he surrendered two runs — one earned — on one hit with one walk. He was unable to record an out.
