CCHS falls to OCS 51-33
The No. 8 Central Catholic Lady Eagles gave top-seed Ouachita Christian a game but fell 51-33 in Division IV quarterfinal action in Monroe Thursday.
While Central Catholic trailed just 15-13 after a quarter and 28-20 at halftime, Ouachita Christian outscored the Lady Eagles a combined 23-13 in the second half. Ouachita Christian outscored Central Catholic 18-7 in the third period for a 48-27 lead after three quarters before Central Catholic held a 6-5 scoring margin in the fourth quarter.
Emery Wirtz led Ouachita Christian with 20 points while Conleigh Laseter had 17 points.
Yani Johnson led Central Catholic with 17 points.
Other Central Catholic scorers were as follows: Laurielle Bias and Lexi Landry, five each; Jade Oliney, three; Caitlyn Picou, two; and Kamille Lightfoot, one.
Other Ouachita Christian scorers were Avery Hopkins and Jayden Ellerman, four each, and Emily Branch, Sara Shivers, and Carley Teekell, two each.
While Central Catholic ends its season with a 16-11 mark, Ouachita Christian improves to 34-0. The squad will continue postseason action Tuesday when it hosts district foe and No. 4 seed Cedar Creek in the semifinals. Cedar Creek advanced after defeating Central Catholic’s district foe, No. 5 Highland Baptist, 53-44 in other quarterfinal action Thursday at Cedar Creek.
