CCHS defeats Hanson Memorial
The Central Catholic Lady Eagles defeated Hanson Memorial 52-25 in District 8-1A action at home Friday.
Central Catholic led 18-8 after a quarter, took a 27-17 lead into halftime and led 37-21 after three periods of play.
Yani Johnson led Central Catholic with 28 points. Other Central Catholic scorers were Laurielle Bias, 13; Caitlyn Picou, five; Kamille Lightfoot, four; and Jade Oliney, two.
Central Catholic will return to action Tuesday when it hosts Covenant Christian in district play.
The Patterson Lumberjills dropped their District 9-3A opener to St. James 51-37 on the road Friday
While Patterson trailed just 14-13 after a quarter, St. James outscored the Lumberjills a combined 28-7 in the second and third quarters, taking a 29-16 lead in to halftime and leading 42-20 after three quarters.
Zorrie Spain led Patterson with 13 points. Other Patterson scorers were as follows: Lanasia Firmin, 10; Briyanna Butler, six; Keatyn Harden, three; Nyla Phillips, two; and Randalyn Paul and Alayah Johnson, one each.
Patterson will continue district play Tuesday when it hosts Lutcher in a 6 p.m. contest.
Assumption High School defeated Morgan City High School 56-33 in District 8-4A action in Morgan City Friday.
Assumption led 21-8 after a quarter, took a 31-19 lead at halftime and led 46-28 after three quarters.
Haylie Crappell led Morgan City with 15 points. Other Morgan City scorers were as follows: Nikeisha Paddio, 12; Ta’Lea Smith, four; and Madelyn Poole, two.

The Berwick Lady Panthers fell to E.D. White 65-39 in its District 9-3A opener in Berwick Friday.
Lay Bertrand led Berwick with 23 points. Other Berwick scorers were Bronwyn Colbert with nine and Arianna Jones with seven.
Berwick will continue district play Tuesday when it travels to face Donaldsonville in a 7 p.m. contest.
