Berwick to host E.D. White Friday
Berwick High School will host its final regular-season game of the season Friday when it faces E.D. White.
The Panthers have lost two straight since opening District 9-3A play with a win against Patterson. A week ago, Berwick (3-5 overall, 1-2 in district) fell to Class 3A’s top-ranked squad, St. James, 45-0 in Vacherie.
Meanwhile, E.D. White held off Lutcher, 17-14, in District 9-3A action in Thibodaux Sunday.
E.D. White’s points in the contest came via a 22-yard Landon Brignac field goal, a 42-yard touchdown pass from Cailun Griggs to Grant Blouin and a 4-yard touchdown run by Patrick Shonacher.
The Cardinals (4-4, 2-1) enter Friday’s contest having won two straight.
Berwick is led this season by quarterback Reed Gonzales and running back Keyon Singleton. Gonzales has completed 48 of 100 passes for 512 yards with four touchdowns and six interceptions, while he has rushed 79 times for 353 yards and eight touchdowns.
Singleton has rushed 142 times for 765 yards and nine touchdowns, and he has caught seven passes for 124 yards and one touchdown.
Seth Canty is Berwick’s leading receiver with 28 receptions for 267 yards and one touchdown.
Berwick coach Mike Walker was not available for comment this morning.
