Woman arrested for possession of cocaine with intent to distribute
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported the following arrests:
—Tracie Lee Silva, 48, of Lake Palourde Road in Amelia, was arrested at 8:20 a.m. Tuesday for possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, violation of a controlled dangerous substance law (drug free zone), possession of drug paraphernalia, stop signs and yield signs, no driver’s license on person and resisting an officer.
A St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division detective observed a vehicle fail to stop at a stop sign on the corner of Friendship Alley and Lake Palourde Road and conducted a traffic stop, the report stated. The detective made contact with the driver who was identified as Silva. Silva gave consent to search the vehicle and her, Hebert stated.
During the search, the deputy located crack cocaine on Silva, the report stated. The investigation led to a search of Silva’s home, during which narcotics detectives located items of drug paraphernalia including glass and metal pipes, Hebert reported. Silva was taken to the parish jail and held. No bail is set.
—Kristy Bergeron, 22, of Rose Street in Berwick, was arrested at 1:19 p.m. Tuesday for domestic abuse battery.
—Brock Bergeron, 26, of David Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 1:19 p.m. Tuesday for domestic abuse battery.
A deputy patrolling the Bayou Vista area responded to a report of a domestic disturbance on David Road. During the investigation, the deputy determined that siblings Kristy Bergeron and Brock Bergeron were arguing over a portable air conditioning unit when the verbal altercation turned physical. The siblings committed a battery upon each other, Hebert stated. Both were taken to the parish jail and held. Both were released on $250 bail.
—A juvenile male, 15, of Bayou Vista, was arrested at 1:03 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant for theft. The warrant stems from an investigation into a report of a theft received by the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office on June 8. During the investigation, the deputy learned that the male juvenile stole another teenager’s iPod. The juvenile was released to a guardian pending juvenile court proceedings.
—Wynn Whitehurst, 37, of Sixth Street in Berwick, was arrested at 11:30 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of careless operation of a motor vehicle. A deputy made contact with Whitehurst on Jupiter Road in Bayou Vista and learned of the warrant for his arrest. Whitehurst was taken to the parish jail and held. Bail is set at $5,000.
Morgan City Police Chief Travis Crouch reported the following arrests:
—Travis Gilmore, 21, of Bayou Vista, was arrested at 8:13 a.m. Tuesday for possession of synthetic cannabinoids.
Morgan City police received a complaint of a suspicious vehicle in the Federal Avenue area. Officers located the vehicle in question and came into contact with the driver, Gilmore. Upon further investigation, it was learned that Gilmore possessed synthetic cannabinoids, Crouch stated. He was taken to Morgan City Jail where he remains.
—Rebecca Martin, 41, of Keith Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 10:31 a.m. Tuesday on a warrant for failure to pay a probation fee for disturbing the peace intoxicated. Martin was being held in the Morgan City Jail on other charges, Hebert stated. Martin remains in jail.
—Nicole Cheavis, 24, of Brownell Homes in Morgan City, was arrested at 8:41 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant for failure to pay restitution.
Officers were dispatched to the area of Brownell Homes regarding a fight. Officers arrived and upon investigation, came into contact Cheavis. It was discovered that Cheavis was a wanted person for City Court. She was taken to the Morgan City Jail. She was booked and released after posting $500 cash bail.
—Matthew Allen Tabor, 28, of Thibodaux, was arrested at 8:56 p.m. Tuesday for driving under suspension, switched license plate, no motor vehicle insurance and expired motor vehicle inspection.
An officer detained Tabor after he was observed committing a traffic violation while operating a vehicle in the area of La. 182. The driver, Tabor, was found to be operating a vehicle with a suspended driver’s license. The vehicle in which Tabor was traveling was also found to have a switched license plate, expired motor vehicle inspection and no motor vehicle insurance. Tabor was taken to the Morgan City Jail. He was released after posting cash bail.
—Chet Williams, 47, of Patterson, was arrested at 12:02 a.m. today for operating a vehicle with a suspended license, license plate light required.
An officer conducted a traffic stop in the area of Brashear Avenue. Williams, the driver of the vehicle, was found to be operating a vehicle with a suspended driver’s license. He was taken to the City Jail and was released after posting cash bail.
