Weather may force parade time changes

At presstime, local Mardi Gras krewes were still hoping to hold weekend parades on time.

The Krewe of Adonis will make its final decision at 1 p.m. today, krewe representatives said. Adonis’ contingency plans for bad weather include moving the parade up one hour to 6 p.m. today or to move the parade to Monday at 7 p.m. along its usual route in Morgan City.

Either way, Adonis will still hold its after-parade party at 9 p.m. today at the St. Mary Senior Citizens Center in Morgan City. No tickets will be sold at the door, only people who purchased advance tickets will be admitted.

The Krewe of Dionysus will make its parade decision on Saturday morning, according to krewe representatives. Dionysus’ contingency plans are to either roll later than its planned 2 p.m. Saturday start in Berwick or to parade Sunday behind the Krewe of Galatea’s parade that starts at 2 p.m. in Morgan City.

Members of the Krewe of Hannibal and the Krewe of Nike participate in the Dionysus parade.

Dionysus will have its after-parade party on parade day at the Berwick Civic Complex. Admission is by pre-purchased ticket only.

Krewe of Galatea officials said their parade is rolling Sunday at 2 p.m. as planned.
