VOLLEYBALL: Lady Eagles split games at MP Country Day tournament

Central Catholic’s volleyball team played four games this past weekend at the Country Day Tournament in Metairie, finishing with a 2-2 record.
On Friday, the Lady Eagles faced Archbishop Chapelle and lost 2-1 (25-22, 19-25, 12-15).
Meo Knight led the team with 17 digs, 12 kills and two blocks; Amanda Barron had five digs, two aces, an assist and two kills; Brienna Hill had four kills and four blocks and Caroline Byrne had 21 assists and two digs.
In the second game on Friday, the Lady Eagles lost to the top-ranked team in Division I, Fountainbleau 2-0 (13-25, 18-25).
Kaitlyn Gros and Caroline Byrne had five assists each with Gros adding two digs and Byrne adding one dig.
Olivia Crawford had five digs and an ace and Marie Templet had a kill, two aces and five digs.
On Saturday, the Lady Eagles won both of its games. First up was John Curtis with CCHS winning 2-1 (25-23, 16-25, 15-9).
Abbie Bergeron had a team-high 10 digs and an ace; Hill had six kills, five blocks and a dig, Celine Flores had five kills, six digs and an ace; Geralyn Garrett had seven kills, one block and a dig; and Knight had 10 kills, three blocks and three digs.
CCHS wrapped up tournament play with a 2-0 win over McGehee (25-23, 25-19).
Hill led the team with eight blocks and four kills; Byrne had 14 assists and a dig; Flores had three digs, two kills and a block; Barron had four digs; Bergeron had three digs; and Crawford had two digs.
Lumberjills lose to Franklin
The Patterson volleyball team lost to district foe Franklin 3-1 (25-10, 22-25, 18-25, 11-25) on the road Thursday.
Kaylan Bennett led the team with five kills, four assists, four digs and two aces; Chynna Williams had five kills and an ace; Caitlyn Fontenot had six digs, four aces, three kills and an assist; Carissa Fontenot had six assists, five digs, two kills and an ace; Keisha Kinchen had six digs and two kills; Katelyn Sonnier had four digs, two assists and a kill; Kasey Stratton had four digs and an ace; Carli McIntyre had an assist and a dig; Rebecca Taylor had a kill; and Jessica Decuir had three aces and three digs.
