VOLLEYBALL: Lady Eagles down Centerville, headed to Country Day tournament this weekend

The Central Catholic volleyball team downed district foe Centerville on Wednesday at the Matchbox 3-0 (25-7, 25-9, 25-5).
Caitlyn Gros led the team with 10 assists, two digs and a kill; Abbie Bergeron had three aces and three digs; Amanda Barron had two digs, an assist and a kill; Brienna Hill had six kills; Brittany Longman had three kills, eight aces and a dig; Caroline Byrne had seven assists; Celine Flores had six digs, five aces and five kills; Geralyn Garrett had a kill; Kimberly Russo had two digs and an ace; Maddie Conrad had a kill, five assists, a dig and four aces; Maria Templet had a dig; Megan Landry had five kills and a dig; Meo Knight had four kills; and Olivia Crawford had a dig.
The Lady Eagles will travel to New Orleans this weekend for the Country Day tournament.
On Friday, CCHS will face Archbishop Chapelle followed by the top team in Class 5A, Fountainbleau, at 7:30 p.m.
Saturday morning the Lady Eagles will face John Curtis at Sacred Heart Academy in St. Charles.
Lady Panthers split district games
The Berwick volleyball team endured a tough loss to Vandebilt Catholic on Tuesday 3-0 (12-25, 10-25, 13-25).
Morgan Mitchell led the team with seven assists and four digs; Elizabeth Hover had four kills and four digs; Megan Fegenbush had a kill and a dig; Diana Grace Guarisco had seven digs, an ace and a kill; Elle Arcemont had a kill; Maddie Gray had a kill and an ace; Abby Bergeron had three digs; and Abigail Ohlin had eight digs and an ace.
On Wednesday, Berwick faced Franklin and won 3-1 (25-10, 25-9, 19-25, 25-8).
The win gives Berwick an 11-14 overall record and 2-3 mark in district.
Ohlin led the team against the Lady Hornets with 14 digs, four aces and three kills; Fegenbush had 12 digs, three kills, two assists and an ace; Hover had seven kills, six digs, three aces and an assist; Arcemont had six kills; Guarisco had eight digs, two kills, two aces and two assists; Gray had three digs and two kills; Mitchell had 13 assists, eight digs, two aces and a kill; and Bergeron had eight digs and five aces.
Berwick will travel to face Catholic High New Iberia on Monday.
MCHS wins amid Pink Game festivities
Morgan City improved to 3-1 in district play with its 3-1 win over South Terrebonne on Wednesday.
Brooke Singleton led the team with 16 assists, 10 kills, two aces, two digs and two block assists; Reina Fernandez had 14 digs, nine kills, two block assists and an ace; Katelyn Adams had 19 assists, seven kills, two block assists, four digs and an ace; Allie Dragna had nine digs and two aces; Brittney Durham had 12 digs, two aces and an assist; Kailyn Turner had six digs, five kills and three block assists; Genesis Esteban had three kills, three block assists and two digs; Jaiveianna Jones had six kills, six block assists and two digs; and Savannah Loupe had six digs.
The Lady Tigers junior varsity lost to South Terrebonne 2-1 (9-25, 25-20 8-15).
Layne Reynaud had two assists and a dig; Taylor Prince had two aces, two digs and an assist; Loupe had four digs and two aces; Ingram had five aces; Chandler Pasqua had nine digs; and Marilynn Bailey had four digs.
The MCHS freshmen beat Berwick 2-0 (25-7, 25-12).
Tyler Hebert led the team with nine aces and a dig; Elizabeth Businelle had two aces; Celestina Williams had four aces and a kill; Amanda Bandemer had a kill; and Sophia Gonzalez had an assist and a kill.
