Work has begun on a new gymnasium for Central Catholic High School in Morgan City. The new gymnasium is being constructed just east of the Sam A. Siracusa gymnasium where athletic events, physical education classes and other activities are held. The facility’s construction is being funded as part of the Vision 2012 joint effort between Holy Cross Catholic Church, Holy Cross Elementary School and CCHS. The facility is the second in a three-phase project that is targeted in the campaign. The first phase, which is well under way, is the construction of a library and six classrooms. In the third phase, a spiritual life center will be built. More than $9.6 million has been raised in the campaign. Roger McChargue in Gray planned, designed and now is contracting the projects.
