Vikings and Colts win in AFL action
The Vikings and the Colts both were victorious in Atchafalaya Football League action Saturday.
The Vikings defeated the Chiefs, 34-16, while the Colts shut out the Saints, 27-0.
In the Vikings’ win, Mitch Fredrick ran for 51 yards and completed two passes to Rustin Ratcliff, a 6-yarder and a 2-yard touchdown toss.
Fredrick also kicked two point-after attempts for four points.
Reid Wiley ran for 90 yards, including a 14-yard touchdown, while Lucas Hatch ran for 33 yards, including a 2-yard touchdown. He also completed a 32-yard pass to Barrett Hover.
Hover had 72 yards of offense, including a 4-yard touchdown run and a 32-yard pass reception.
On defense, Seth Giroir, Jake Srigley, Tyler Thibodeaux and Devin LeBlanc all turned in solid outings.
For the Chiefs, Joshua Jones ran for 72 yards, including a 57-yard touchdown run, while Colin Louviere rushed for 45 yards, including a 6-yard touchdown.
Trey Derouen also kicked two PATs for four points.
Solid defensive efforts were turned in by Kim Crappell, who recorded an interception; along with Josh Jones, Marguil Singleton, Peter Grogan and Ethan Scully.
In the Colts’ win, Reggie Talver rushed for 107 yards, including touchdowns of 65 and 35 yards, while Drexel Boutte had an 80-yard touchdown run and PAT.
Other contributors for the Colts include De’andre Jackson with 48 yards rushing, including a 9-yard touchdown and a PAT, while quarterback Louis Jones had a PAT run.
On defense, Darrius Lucas had a pass interception and a 25-yard return, Darrius Johnson, a pass interception and Brandon Boutte, a fumble recovery. Jaymioun Butler also had a solid outing.
For the Saints, Leon Williams had a 38-yard run, and Dede Gant ran for 33 yards.
On defense, the Saints’ Taylor Blanchard had a fumble recovery, while Joshua Jones also had a solid outing.
