Norwood earns LSU track honors

LSU’s Track and Field program held its fifth annual Team Awards and Alumni Recognition Banquet Oct. 24. Vernon Norwood, a Morgan City High School alum and LSU standout, received several awards, including the Glenn “Slats” Hardin Award. The award is given to the Most Outstanding Male Performer of the Year. Norwood also won the Most Outstanding Track Athlete Award as well as the Newcomer of the Year Award. Norwood finished 3rd in 400, 4x400 meter relay

Morgan City High School alum and LSU track and field standout Vernon Norwood placed third in the 400-meter run Friday at the 2014 NCAA Division 1 Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Ore., and he anchored the Tigers’ 4x400-meter relay to a third place finish.
