Trio accused of drinking beer in store aisle
The St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office reports the following arrests over the weekend, according to Sheriff Mark Hebert:
Three people were arrested for shoplifting at the Walmart in Bayou Vista at 7:48 p.m. Saturday. Deputies learned from store security that a man and woman were observed on surveillance cameras drinking beer taken off the shelf of the beer isle. A juvenile male was observed opening and eating bags of candy. All are charged with theft.
—Diosdado Perez, 37, of Gabriel Street, Patterson.
—Kirenia Puentes, 34, of Gabriel Street, Patterson.
—A juvenile male, 14.
All were released on a summons to appear in court.
—Carlos Pirir, 27, of Southport Boulevard, New Iberia, was arrested at 8:58 p.m. Saturday on Duhon Boulevard in Amelia for tail lights required, operating a vehicle without lawful presence in the United States, and unlawful possession of fraudulent documents. He remains jailed with bail not set.
—Quinton Jones, 21, of Friendship Alley, Amelia, was arrested at 1:27 a.m. Sunday on La. 182 in Amelia for driving while intoxicated, stop sign violation, no driver’s license, and possession of an open alcoholic container in a motor vehicle. He performed poorly on a field sobriety test and refused to take a breath test, the report stated. Jones was jailed and then released on a $2,500 bail.
—Courtney Lynette Bourgeois, 23, of Prairie Road, Franklin, was arrested at 7:56 p.m. Sunday at Walmart in Bayou Vista for theft. She was released on a summons to appear in court.
—Tammy Delahoussaye, 43, of Onstead Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 9:15 p.m. Sunday on La. 182 in Bayou Vista for driving while intoxicated, careless operation, and no driver’s license on person. The responding deputy located a vehicle in a ditch near Southeast Boulevard. Delahoussaye performed poorly on the field sobriety test and registered a .196 on the Intoxilyzer 5000, the report stated. She remains jailed with bail not set.
—Rigoberto Cruz Barrios, 26, of Odile Street, Amelia, was arrested at 3:13 a.m. Saturday on La. 182 near Roderick Street in Morgan City for improper lane use, operating a vehicle without lawful presence in the United States, and switched license plate. His vehicle is alleged to have crossed the center line multiple times, and a deputy conducted a traffic stop. He remains jailed with bail not set.
The Patterson Police Department reported the following arrests over the weekend, according to Chief Patrick M. LaSalle:
—Gregory Batiste, 36, of La. 316, Gray, was arrested at 3:51 a.m. Saturday on U.S. 90 East for driving while intoxicated, expired driver’s license and improper lane usage. He remains jailed pending bail.
—Hodges Ferdinand Matthews Jr., 33, of Friendship Alley, Amelia, was arrested on Catherine Street at 5 a.m. Saturday for driving under suspension. He was released on payment of a $316 bail.
—Evette Caudill, 33, of Owl Drive, Kaplan, was arrested at 11:28 a.m. Sunday on U.S. 90 West near the Calumet Bridge for careless operation with an accident, leaving the scene of an accident, driving under suspension, no motor vehicle insurance and an expired license plate. She remains jailed at the parish law enforcement center with a bail of $1,196.
The Morgan City Police Department reports the following arrests over the weekend, according to Assistant Chief Glenn Blanco:
—Alyssa Ashmore, 22, of Chester Bowles Street, Morgan City, was arrested at her home at 11:42 a.m. Friday on a warrant for failure to appear for arraignment in 16th Judicial Court. She remains jailed with bail not set.
—Melissa Stoute, 39, of Apple Street, Morgan City, was arrested at her home at 9:32 p.m. Saturday for telephone harassment. She remains jailed with bail set at $692.
—Micheal Drummond, 33, of Short Street, Morgan City, was arrested at his residence at 3:31 a.m. Sunday on a warrant for violation of a protective order. He remains jailed with bail not set.
—Francisco Gonzales, 38, of Terrebonne Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 8 p.m. Sunday for simple battery and theft. He remains jailed with bail not set.
The Berwick Police Department reported no arrests were made over the weekend.
