Tree plantings in refuge

The Natural Resources Conservation Service, St. Mary Soil and Water Conservation District, LSU-Ag Center, St. Mary Parish Black Bear Conflict Office and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service recently held a tree planting along with local 4-H Junior Leaders. The group planted more than 300 seedlings on the Bayou Teche National Wildlife Refuge to improve black bear habitat. In the bottom photo, 4-year-old Luke Spangler is planting with his dad, Jake Spangler.
