Trans are top graduates at Morgan City High
Linda Tran and Tina Thanh Tran will lead the graduating class of Morgan City High School during commencement exercises Friday at the Morgan City Municipal Auditorium. The ceremony begins at 7 p.m.
Both seniors maintained 4.0 grade point averages throughout high school
Linda Tran is the daughter of Nhanh Van Tran and Lan Truong.
She has earned the honor roll and principal’s list for academic excellence, was a student of the month, received the Algebra 2 departmental award, as well as participated in both district and state literary rally for that subject. She also received the advanced math departmental award and participated in district literary rally for that subject.
L. Tran also was a member of Beta Club where she earned numerous awards and served as the club president. She also won numerous awards for swimming including the Fighting Tiger swimming award, all-academic state swim team and lettered in the sport. She was a member of Foreign Language Society, Historical Society, SADD, prom committee, student council and talented art.
In addition, L. Tran was a Tiger Tracks mentor, participated in the Nicholls State University math tournament and was a participant in Louisiana Girls’ State.
Tina Tran is the daughter of Suong Thanh Tran and Lien Lam.
She was a member of the student council as well as the senior class president. She also was a member of Beta Club, the Historical Society, SADD and served as a Tiger Tracks mentor. She was a member of the Shining Stars Program, master of ceremonies for Urban Legends, completed a senior project on building a stock portfolio, participated in ULM’s Technology Challenge and participated in literary rally for financial math.
T. Tran has received numerous awards including the departmental awards for free enterprise and business computer applications and a leadership award for Beta club.
She has done numerous deeds of community service including work at the Shrimp and Petroleum Festival Children’s Village, ushering for a display of the traveling Vietnam Wall, translating Vietnamese to English for other students and diligent work for her church’s festivities.
The summa cum laude graduates at MCHS are Brianne Lynn Barrilleaux, Dejah Monet Francis, Kaitlyn Michelle Ledet, Drake Vincent Leonard and Matika Danté Scott.
