Tickets available for parish play
Tickets for Techeland Art Council’s new stage play, “Bayou Storm Rising,” are on sale at The Frame Shop at 708 Front Street in Morgan City and online at www.techeland.org.
“Bayou Storm Rising” will be held April 26 through May 1 at Teche Theatre on Main Street in Franklin.
“There’s some quirky courtships going on and gossip galore as a monster hurricane bears down on a bayou town in this irreverent and heart-touching production” said play co-writer Sue Davis. “It’s historical. It’s hysterical!”
She and Roger Stouff wrote the historical play based on true stories of rural St. Mary Parish communities. Diane Wiltz is director.
“Bayou Storm Rising brings the legendary warmth of the people of Bayou Teche to the stage,” Davis said. “With all of the wit, courage and resilience of this vibrant and unforgettable culture.”
Tickets are $15. Evening performances will be at 7:30 p.m. and there will be a 2 p.m. matinee April 28.
The play is sponsored in part by Acadiana Center for the Arts and the Louisiana Division of the Arts.
Techeland Arts Council is a non-profit 501c3 volunteer organization dedicated to the preservation of historic events, places, people and stories of the Bayou Teche area through dramatic stage presentations.
