Three arrested and charged with operating a meth lab in Brownell Homes in the presence of 7-year-old
MORGAN CITY, La. — Three people were arrested Saturday morning by Morgan City police when officers discovered a methamphetamine lab on Canary Street in Brownell Homes, and officers learned they had been producing meth in the presence of a 7-year-old, according to Morgan City Police Chief Travis Crouch.
Police responded to a call of a domestic disturbance at a residence located on Canary Street. Officers arrived to investigate the complaint. During the investigation of the domestic disturbance and battery, officers became suspicious that there was narcotics activity inside the residence, Crouch stated.
Officers expanded their investigation into the alleged narcotics activity and, during the search of the premises, located a small clandestine lab used to manufacture methamphetamine; a schedule II controlled dangerous substance. There were several chemicals and items located used to produce the methamphetamine, Crouch stated. During the search, a schedule I controlled dangerous substance (marijuana) and a schedule II controlled dangerous substance (cocaine) also were located. It also was learned that the subjects had been producing methamphetamine in the presence of a 7-year-old juvenile.
—Danielle Calloway, 29, of Glenwood Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 5:22 a.m. Saturday for creating and operating a clandestine lab for unlawful manufacture of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of a schedule II controlled dangerous substance, possession of a schedule I controlled dangerous substance, illegal use of a controlled dangerous substance in presence of persons under 17 years of age, possession of drug paraphernalia and domestic abuse battery.
—Kaleb Wood, 19, of Railroad Avenue in Morgan City, was arrested at 5:25 a.m. Saturday for domestic abuse battery, creating and operating a clandestine lab for unlawful manufacture of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of a schedule II controlled dangerous substance, possession of a schedule I controlled dangerous substance, illegal use of a controlled dangerous substance in presence of persons under 17 years of age and possession of drug paraphernalia
—Morrianne Hatcher, 23, of Canary Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 7:58 a.m. Saturday for possession of schedule II controlled dangerous substance, possession of schedule I controlled dangerous substance, illegal use of controlled dangerous substance in the presence of persons under 21 years of age and possession of drug paraphernalia.
All three remain in jail in lieu of bail. The juvenile was remanded to family members, Crouch said.
Elsewhere, a Patterson man was arrested Saturday by a St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s deputy on several drug charges after the man fled on foot from the deputy and struck the deputy with his hand, according to Sheriff Mark Hebert.
George Favors III, 45, of Tiffany Street in Patterson, was arrested at 4:33 a.m. Saturday for two counts of resisting an officer, resisting an officer with force, criminal trespass, possession of schedule I (marijuana), possession of schedule II (crack cocaine), possession of drug paraphernalia, disturbing the peace by using foul language, battery of a police officer, and obstruction of justice.
A deputy patrolling the Siracusa area observed a man walking on Grace Street and attempted to make contact with him. Upon seeing the deputy, Favors fled, and the deputy gave chase. Upon his apprehension, Favors struck a deputy with his hand, Hebert said. Favors was found to be in possession of a small bag of marijuana and crack cocaine. During the arrest, Favors continuously used profanity in the presence of several residents in the area, Hebert said. Favors was taken to the parish jail and held. No bail is set.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert reported the following arrests:
—Kashif J. Wallace, 25, of Village Lane in Amelia, was arrested at 3:38 p.m. Friday for theft. A deputy responded to a complaint of a theft of a lawnmower on Lake Palourde Road in Amelia. The mower was located and returned to its owner. Wallace was released on a summons to appear in court Aug. 23.
—Patrick McEniry, 44, of Jupiter Street in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 8:01 p.m. Friday for simple battery.
—Pamela J. Cain, 51, of Two Sisters Court in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 8:21 p.m. Friday for simple criminal damage to property.
A deputy responded to a complaint of someone damaging a vehicle. During the course of the investigation, the deputy learned that McEniry and Cain were involved in a verbal altercation when McEniry grabbed Cain and threw her to the ground. As Cain was leaving, she broke a mirror on McEniry’s vehicle. Cain was released on a summons. McEniry was released on $500 bail.
Morgan City Police Chief Travis Crouch reported the following arrests:
—Shantell Nicole Thomas, 29, of Egle Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 2:41 a.m. Friday for criminal trespassing and disturbing the peace intoxicated.
Officers responded to a complaint regarding a person trespassing on property on Louisa Street. Officers arrived and located Thomas hiding behind a vehicle. Thomas appeared highly intoxicated and disoriented. It was determined that Thomas had mistaken the residence for another, apparently due to her intoxicated state. She was taken to the Morgan City Police Department and held.
—Adriana Oliveros, 24, of Tupelo Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 9:42 p.m. Friday for failure to dim headlights and no driver’s license.
An officer observed a vehicle driven by Oliveros in the area of Sixth and Fig streets. The driver of the vehicle, Oliveros, failed to dim lights and a traffic stop was initiated. Oliveros could not produce a valid Louisiana driver’s license and had been cited for the same violation numerous times. Based on her history, the officer arrested Oliveros. She was taken to the Morgan City Jail and later released on cash bail.
—Kirk Hatcher Sr., 49, of Apple Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 10:17 p.m. Friday on warrants for probation violation, another probation violation, failure to pay probation fee for disturbing the peace, contempt of court, failure to pay a fine for disturbing the peace and resisting an officer.
An officer patrolling the area of Federal Avenue and Garber Street observed Hatcher and was aware of several warrants for Hatcher’s arrest. The officer detained Hatcher at which time the warrants were confirmed. Hatcher was taken to the Morgan City Police Department where he remains.
—Alvaro Bolanos-Franco, 35, of Third Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 9:25 a.m. Saturday for domestic abuse battery and criminal damage to property.
Officers were summoned to a Third Street residence regarding a domestic disturbance. Officers arrived and upon investigating, learned that Bolanos-Franco had allegedly committed a battery on a female inside the residence and had damaged items inside the residence, Crouch stated. Bolanos-Franco was taken to the Morgan City Jail and held.
—Kevin Willoughby, 42, of Versen Street in Berwick, was arrested at 4:10 a.m. Saturday on a warrant for failure to pay child support.
An officer conducting a traffic stop in the area of Freret and First streets encountered the driver, Willoughby. Willoughby was discovered to be a wanted person. He was taken to the Morgan City Jail where he remains.
—Jessica Beth Lucas, 20, of Solar Apartments in Morgan City, was arrested at 12:26 a.m. today for fighting.
—Kelly Hamilton, 30, of Solar Apartments in Morgan City, was arrested at 12:26 a.m. today for fighting.
Officers observed two females fighting on a balcony at the apartments on La. 182. The women were detained and separated by officers. They were arrested and taken to the Morgan City Jail and held.
—Michael Ortis, 33, of Cedar Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 12:31 a.m. today for possession of marijuana third offense, possession of drug paraphernalia, two brake lights required and driving under suspension. An officer stopped Ortis, who was operating a vehicle in the area of Sixth Street and Brashear Avenue for a traffic violation. Officers became suspicious of the driver, and, upon further investigation, a small amount of marijuana, along with a pipe commonly used to smoke marijuana, were seized from the vehicle, Crouch said. Ortis also was found to be operating a vehicle with a suspended driver’s license. Ortis was taken to the Morgan City Jail where he remains.
—Atlas Joseph White, 21, of Pecos Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 11:50 p.m. Thursday on an outstanding warrant for domestic abuse battery and was also charged with resisting an officer. White was escorted to Morgan City police by a St. Mary Parish sheriff’s deputy. He was arrested on a warrant which stemmed from an incident on Feb. 5 in which White was accused of striking a female during an argument. White was booked, and, upon attempting to be placed in a holding cell, refused to cooperate with arresting officers. White was taken to jail and held.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported the following arrests:
—Geralman Moore, 24, of Jackson Avenue in Baton Rouge, was arrested at 12:36 a.m. today for suspended driver’s license and loud music. Moore is being held on a $508 city fine.
—Juan Garcia, 27, of Gabriel Street in Patterson, was arrested at 5:17 a.m. Saturday for no driver’s license and loud music. Garcia was released on a $406 paid fine.
—Brodie William Boudreaux, 19, of Shady Grove in Patterson, was arrested at 6:41 p.m. Sunday for a stop sign violation, no driver’s license and failure to carry registration in the vehicle. Boudreaux is still being held.
—Merrill Cormier, 38, of Main Street in Patterson, was arrested at 10:47 a.m. Saturday for suspended driver’s license and loud music. Cormier was released on a $508 paid fine.
—Joshua Navarro, 21, of Wise Street in Patterson, was arrested at 12:14 a.m. today for possession of marijuana third offense, speeding, no insurance and possession of schedule III (Lortab). No bail has been set.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrests:
—Tony Hanson, 58, of Nicole Lane in Berwick, was arrested at 6:50 p.m. Saturday for disturbing the peace intoxicated. Hanson was released on bail.
—Amanda Francis, 31, of Keller’s Lane in Morgan City, was arrested at 7:45 p.m. Friday for driving under suspension and no tail lamps. Francis was released on bail.
