Sylvia R. Wilson, 78, a native and resident of Morgan City, died Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at Teche Regional Medical Center, at 12:08 p.m.

Visitation will be Friday, August 2, at Mt. Esther Baptist Church from 5:30 p.m. until 7 p.m. Funeral Service will be Saturday, August 3, at Siracusa Recreation Center from 9 a.m. until funeral service at 11 a.m. Entombment will follow in the Morgan City Mausoleum.

Mrs. Wilson taught at Morgan City High School, Willow Street Elem. and Hattie Watts. She retired from St. Mary Parish School system after 38 years of teaching.

Sis. Wilson leaves to cherish her memories to her husband, John Wilson; her daughters, Mrs. Alvin (Sandra) Wilkerson, Joan Denise Wilson and Tracey R. Wilson, all of Morgan City; a stepson, John Cooper Sr. of Morgan City; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and six godchildren. She also leaves to cherish her memories her family, friends and other relatives, including children that looked up to her as a mom known as “Mama Sylvia.”

Sylvia R. Wilson was preceded in death by her grandparents, her parents, a brother, other uncles, aunts, cousins and family members.
