SWAMPLAND: Pitching, home runs lead Pride to win over Skippers

By: Staff Reports
The Patterson Pride beat Morgan City Skipper’s on Monday at Tiger Stadium 6-1 behind a stellar pitching performance from Bryce Tabor.

Tabor went seven innings and struck out five batters and allowed a mere three hits and no walks.

“Bryce controlled the baseball game,” Pride coach Ryan Jensen said. “He was able to throw all three pitches for a strike and did a good job jumping ahead in the count. It was one of the best outings of his career.

“We played good enough defense behind him and got a big home run from Dallas to give us the lead and then the three-run home run from Ryan to give us some breathing room late.”

Tabor was also 1-for-4 at the plate; Ryan Wade was 1-for-2 with a three-run home run; Dallas Hamlett was 1-for-3 with a solo home run; Cameron Clements was 1-for-4; and Chase Martin was 1-for-3.

The Pride are now 2-3 on the season with a game today at home against Terrebonne set for a 7 p.m. first pitch.

“Hopefully we can put forth this same kind of pitching and defensive effort again tonight and show some consistency,” Jensen said.

Central Lafourche 4, Taco Bell 3

Nick Duthu threw a gem of a game for Taco Bell, made up of Berwick players, going all seven innings with six strikeouts, three walks, five hits and four runs with just one earned.

Taco Bell ended up on the losing end with three unearned runs due to three errors in the second inning.

Logan Theriot led Taco Bell at the plate going 1-for-3 with two RBIs; Lee Rhodes was 1-for-3; Chris Charpentier was 2-for-3; Matt Skelton was 1-for-2 with an RBI; and Nick Osburn was 1-for-3.

Taco Bell is now 2-3 in Swampland play and will host South Terrebonne tonight at 7 p.m.
