St. Charles deputies seek woman's killer
DESTREHAN, La. (AP) — St. Charles Parish sheriff's detectives are hunting a Destrehan man they suspect killed his girlfriend in their house and attacked her mother.
NOLA.com/The Times-Picayune reports (http://bit.ly/XgLGpN) Bruce Bourgeois Jr., 34, is wanted in Wednesday's double stabbing. Sheriff's spokesman, Sgt. Dwayne LaGrange, said the dead woman is the mother of Bourgeois' two children.
Neither the deceased nor her wounded mother was identified. LaGrange did not know whether the children were home when the incident occurred. But he said: "The kids have been moved to a secure location."
The sheriff's office was called to the house just after 9 a.m. by a neighbor after the deceased's mother came over for help. Because of her injuries, the woman couldn't speak, but wrote on a note Bourgeois' name and that he attacked her, and asked that 911 be called, LaGrange said.
She had gone to her daughter's house to pick up Bourgeois for a trip to see his probation officer, LaGrange said. He had no details on why Bourgeois is on probation but said the suspect has a criminal history in St. Charles Parish.
The girlfriend was supposed to drive Bourgeois to the meeting, but he told her mother earlier Wednesday that she was ill and unable to take him, LaGrange said.
"When she got there, he wouldn't let her see her daughter," LaGrange said. "She was persistent on seeking her. It was at that particular point we think she was assaulted as well."
The mother was taken to a local hospital for treatment, LaGrange said. He did not describe her wounds and her condition was not immediately available.
Deputies said Bourgeois, believed armed and dangerous, might be driving a gray Toyota Scion XD, with license number VTE 461.
Law enforcement agencies in neighboring parishes have been asked to look for Bourgeois as well, LaGrange said.
