Ocean Conservancy to study Grand Isle trash
GRAND ISLE, La. (AP) — More than 30 bags of trash were removed from the beach at Grand Isle in a sweep in November.
The Barataria-Terrebonne National Estuary Program and partner organizations did the work.
The Barataria group tells The Courier (http://bit.ly/1a43eef ) that the trash included more than 151 pieces of foam and more than 260 pieces of plastic.
The Ocean Conservancy will analyze the trash as part of its study of the dangers of marine debris.
The next beach cleanup is scheduled for June 12.
