In late January, the sheriff’s office received a complaint of an armed robbery. The victim, a 17-year-old black male, got into a blue Dodge Durango with three other black males, one of whom was an acquaintance. The victim was given a ride to Walmart in Bayou Vista to cash a check, Hebert stated.
After cashing the check, he returned to the vehicle to be given a ride home. However, instead of taking the teen home, one man pointed a gun at the victim’s head and demanded his belongings, Hebert stated. The teen complied and was then taken to the Baldwin area where he was ordered to get out of the vehicle.
