St. Mary Parish men arrested for shooting that stemmed from workplace dispute
GRAY — Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives arrested two St. Mary Parish men in connection with a shooting stemming from a workplace argument on U.S. 90 Friday morning.
Sheriff Jerry Larpenter said the sheriff’s department received a 911 call at about 5:50 a.m. that a motorist was shot at as he was travelling on U.S. 90 near the La. 24 exit.
The victim reported that as he was driving on the highway, he observed a vehicle approach him from behind and fire multiple shots at his vehicle. The vehicle was struck twice, in the rear lights and rear tire. The man provided a suspect vehicle description that matched that of a co-worker he recently had a verbal altercation with.
Detectives located the co-worker and interviewed him. The co-worker, identified as Scott Carrington, 24, of the 1000 block of Shaw Drive in Morgan City, admitted to approaching the victim’s vehicle as he drove on U.S. 90 and firing multiple shots at the vehicle, Larpenter said.
Carrington said another co-worker, identified as Billy Perez Jr., 26, of the 400 block of Loveland Street in Patterson, accompanied him, Larpenter said. Perez was located by detectives and admitted involvement in the shooting, Larpenter said. Both men were arrested.
Carrington was charged with one count of illegal discharge of a weapon and aggravated criminal damage to property. His bail was set at $300,000. Perez was charged with aggravated criminal damage to property. His bail was also set at $300,000.
Both men were jailed at the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex.
