St. Jude Horseshoe Tournament
The Bayou Horseshoe Pitchers Association hosted the St. Jude Horseshoe Tournament fundraiser Aug. 24 at Kemper Williams Park near Patterson.
Winners were crowned in Classes A-E, with playoffs needed to decide champions in Classes C and E.
In Class C, it took sudden death for Gerald Prados of Centerville to top Clyde Landry of Pierre Part. Both finished tied in regulation and following a 40-show playoff.
Prados finished with a 5-1 mark and a 30.4 ringer percentage, while Landry was 4-2 with a 32.1 ringer percentage.
Tim Hayles of Berwick was third with a 2-3 mark and a 29.5 ringer percentage.
In Class E, Ron Smith of Lake Charles won the title after knocking off Gaylin Habetz of Lake Charles in a 40-shoe playoff. Smith finished with a 5-1 mark and a 13.5 ringer percentage, while Habetz was 4-2 with a 19.5 ringer percentage.
Vernet Dupuy of Bayou Vista finished third with a 3-2 mark and a 15.6 ringer percentage.
In Class A, Sharla Fontenot of Lacassine took first place with a 5-0 mark and a 43.5 ringer percentage, while Pat Pertuit of Marrero was second with a 3-2 mark and a 52.0 ringer percentage. Ron Latiolais of Gonzales was third with a 3-2 mark and a 48.5 ringer percentage.
In Class B, Linda Dodson of Morgan City took top honors with a 4-1 mark and a 44.0 ringer percentage, while Ike Chavalia of Houma was second with a 3-2 mark and a 36.5 ringer percentage. O.J. Cole of Centerville was third with a 3-2 mark and a 29.5 ringer percentage.
Bill Seither of Harahan took top honors in Class D with a 5-0 mark and a 30.0 ringer percentage.
Mack Thibodeaux of Lake Arthur was second with a 3-2 mark and a 24.5 ringer percentage, while Chris Rogers of Morgan City was third with a 2.5-2.5 record and a 15.0 ringer percentage.
