MCHS is making first Final Four appearance

The Morgan City High School Lady Tigers bowling team will make its first appearance in school history in the state’s Final Four when it takes on St. Scholastica Friday in an 11 a.m. contest at All-Star Lanes in Baton Rouge. Morgan City is the No. 5 seed out of the state’s western bi-regional, while St.

For the past three years, the Morgan City girls bowling team has put up stellar regular season records and advanced to the bi-regional round of the state bowling playoffs.

MCHS rallies for 5-4 victory against Vandebilt Catholic

The Morgan City Lady Tigers rallied for two runs in the bottom of the seventh to defeat Vandebilt Catholic, 5-4, in Morgan City Tuesday.

Locals compete at state gymnastics meet

Madison Simmons, 10, of Berwick won the Level 2, Division N championship at the Louisiana Gymnastics State Championship Sunday at the Alario Center in Westwego. Simmons captured gold with an all-around score of 38.2. Individual, she captured first in the vault (9.7), beam (9.825) and floor (9.55). She finished eighth in the bars at 9.125. Weekend tennis winners

The Morgan City Adult/Jr. Combo was held Saturday and Sunday at the Morgan City Tennis Courts. Bailee Hoggatt, left, won the girls 16-and-under division. She won three matches and defeated Mary Gianoli of Covington 6-4, 6-1. Emma Thomas, middle, won the girls 18-and-under division, winning three matches and defeating Dani Madere of Napoleonville, 6-7, 6-0, 10-6 in the finals. Jon Gilmore, right, won the boys 12-and-under division, winning three matches and defeating Jesus Diaz of Houma in the finals, 6-1, 6-0. Not pictured are Christiana Williams
