Louisiana State Doubles Horseshoe Pitching Championships

The Louisiana State Doubles Horseshoe Pitching Championships were held June 27 at Chennault Park in Monroe. Tim Gilmore of Bayou Vista and Eddie Jolly of Monroe won the event and tournament championship after defeating
Ricky Richard of Church Point and Alois Habetz of Sulphur in a 60-shoe playoff. Both teams finished regulation tied. Above, in no particular order, are Gilmore and Jolly, who finished with a 5-1 mark with a 38.3 ringer percentage; Richard and Habetz, who took second place with a 4-2 record and a 41.7 ringer percentage; and third-place winners Dudley Michel of Bayou Vista and Al Dodson of Morgan City, who recorded a 3-2 mark and a 39.7 ringer percentage. Morgan City/Berwick-Bayou Vista youth softball teams

Candy Fleet not only competed in Morgan City Recreation Department 7- and 8-year-old softball action this season, but they were the top team in their age group.
