Colts and Chiefs win Atchafalaya Football League action
The Colts shutout the Vikings while the Chiefs routed the Saints, both in Atchafalaya Football League action Saturday.
The Colts shut out the Vikings 22-0.
In the win, Deandre Jackson rushed for 73 yards, including a 52-yard touchdown. He also scored three points on point-after attempts.
Gage Todd had 47 yards rushing, while Louis Jones passed to Jaymioun Butler for touchdowns of 53 yards and 54 yards.
Other top contributors included Kamron Nicholls rushing yards, including a 23-yard kickoff return; and Khyre Willis, 19 rushing yards.
On defense, Jacquandre Williams recovered a fumble, while solid performances also were turned in by teammates Alan Langston, Kelon Williams, Butler and Skylar Louis.
Jamul Sparrow led the Vikings with 53 yards rushing, while Sparrow recorded an interception on defense. Other top contributors defensively for the Vikings were Blake Pennison, Dylan Mayon, Cody Kapp and Parker Brian.
In the Chiefs’ 34-7 win against the Saints, Christian Scribner passed for 117 yards and touchdowns of 70 yards to Christopher Pitre and 31 yards to Devonte Grogan. Scribner also rushed for a 5-yard score, while Pitre had a PAT.
Grogan added a touchdown on a 46-yard fumble recovery, while Treveon Francois completed a 15-yard pass to Grogan.
Matthew Griffin also rushed for 80 yards, including a 13-yard touchdown, while he also ran in a PAT.
In addition to Grogan, solid defensive performances were turned in by Channing Miller, Hayden Barron, Philip Guarisco and Kyle Ring.
For the Saints, Davideyon Bias rushed for 81 yards, while quarterback Ethan Nguyen rushed for 31 yards, including a 4-yard score. He completed a PAT pass to Leon Williams, too.
Solid defense was recorded by Yeshua Young, Josiah Boudreaux, Justice Perou and Williams.
