AAA, Majors North Regionals action washed out today
FRANKLIN — The Louisiana AAA and Majors Dixie Youth North Regionals in Franklin at Caffery Park have been washed out today due to inclement weather, and the tournament’s start time, which is tentatively set for Saturday at 1 p.m., will be determined tonight after the field is assessed.
Seth Thomas, one of the tournament’s directors, said officials will look at the field tonight and then make a determination on a start time.
While he said that start time is tentatively set for 1 p.m., Thomas said the tournament could begin sooner or be pushed back later depending on conditions.
Three St. Mary Parish teams — Franklin, Morgan City and Patterson — are set to compete in the AAA (9- and 10-year-old bracket), while two St. Mary Parish teams — Franklin and Morgan City — will be in action in the Majors (11- and 12-year-old) division.
Meanwhile, at the Louisiana AAA and Majors Dixie Youth South Regional at Wally Pontiff Jr. Park in Metairie, action also has been postponed until Saturday also, St. Mary Central 9- and 10-year-old coach John Menard reported this afternoon.
He said that St. Mary Central's 9- and 10-year-old's contest against the Franklinton Americans, originally scheduled for today at 7 p.m., has been pushed back until Saturday at 2 p.m., while the St. Mary Central 11- and 12-year-old All-Stars' contest against Jefferson, originally set for today at 5 p.m., will be played Saturday at 2 p.m.
