CCHS' Brown, Knight to play in all-star game
Central Catholic will be represented in the Louisiana High School Coaches Association All-Star game for the third consecutive year, but this year, it will be in the girls’ contest.
After former Central Catholic stars Lloyd Grogan and Dontrell Brown participated in the game in 2012 and 2013, respectively, the Central Catholic Lady Eagles’ Randi Brown and Meo Knight will participate in this year’s girls’ game, which will begin at 2 p.m. at Bossier Parish Community College Saturday and will be followed by the boys’ game.
Knight and Brown are both Division 1 caliber players as Knight signed with Alabama in the fall, while Brown currently has scholarship offers from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and Ole Miss.
They will play in the All-Star game, which features players combined on teams, regardless of classes, two weeks to the day after winning the Class 1A state championship at Burton Coliseum in Lake Charles with a 67-64 win against North Central.
Knight and Brown both will be members of the West squad where they will play with, among others, district foe Vermilion Catholic’s Katie Frith. Vermilion Catholic coach Kim Guidry will coach the West Squad.
Knight, Brown and Frith recently were named first-team District 7-1A selections, with Brown taking District Most Valuable Player honors.
