Spinella is AGU show chairman
Karen Spinella was chosen chairman for the Artists Guild Unlimited 50th Anniversary Annual Labor Day Show and Sale. The show is set Aug. 29 through Sept. 19 at the AGU Everett Street Gallery in Morgan City. It is annually held in conjunction with the Louisiana Shrimp and Petroleum Festival.
Spinella has served two terms as Artists Guild secretary and, with a full committee behind her, has taken on the task of organizing one of the largest shows in Louisiana, according to the AGU.
Her love of art began as a teenager; however it was in 1987 when she began heartfelt painting. Pastel and watercolor are her favorite mediums. She has participated in workshops presented by some well-known artists: Judi Betts, Kathy Stone, the late Elmore Morgan and the late Robert Greenwood. Spinella earned numerous awards over the years at several Louisiana art shows.
The Everett Street Gallery, at 201 Everett St., will be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Labor Day. The show will continue from Sept. 4 to 19 during regular gallery hours of 1 to 4 p.m. Wednesdays through Fridays and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays.
All art work displayed is available for purchase with the exception of children and teen entries marked “not for sale.”
Artists wishing to enter may do so during pre-registration from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. For a complete schedule and guidelines go to AGU’s website www.artistsguildunlimited.org or email the gallery at firstname.lastname@example.org, or call 985-385-9945.
