Southwest Louisiana projects approved by state Bond Commission

BATON ROUGE – Millions of dollars for Southwest Louisiana projects were approved by the Bond Commission after his administration recommended them for funding, stated a news release from Gov. Bobby Jindal.

The projects include more than $62 million in support for higher education throughout Louisiana, the news release stated. Since 2008, the Jindal administration has supported more than $700 million dollars in higher education infrastructure investments across the state, including more than $225 million for Louisiana Community and Technical College campuses, the news release stated.

Southwest Louisiana pro-jects approved by the State Bond Commission include:

• $1.5 million in Priority 2 funding for Morganza to Gulf of Mexico flood control feasibility study, planning, design, right of way and construction of levees, flood-gates and other flood control systems in Ascension, As-sumption, Iberia, Iberville, Lafourche, Pointe Coupee, St. Martin, St. Mary, Terre-bonne, West Baton Rouge Parish with an additional $25 million in future Priority 5 funding for a total investment of $26.5 million;

• $900,000 in Priority 2 funding for Region 5/ Lake Charles Office of Wildlife, planning and construction in Calcasieu Parish with an additional $8.1 million in future Priority 5 funding for a total investment of $9 million;

• $200,000 in Priority 2 funding for Carencro wastewater and city infra-structure flood damages, planning and construction in Lafayette Parish with an additional $5.77 million in future Priority 5 funding for a total investment of $5.97 million;

• $500,000 in Priority 2 funding for Apollo Road extension (Rue Du Belier and Dulles Drive intersection to Old Spanish Trail and Apollo Road intersection) in Scott, planning and construction and land acquisition in Lafa-yette Parish with an addi-tional $4.5 million in future Priority 5 funding for a total investment of $5 million;

• $500,000 in Priority 2 funding for the Port of Lake Charles access road, planning and construction in Calcasieu Parish with an additional $4.5 million in future Priority 5 funding for a total investment of $5 million;

• $900,000 in Priority 2 funding for gravity sewer pump trunk mains and pumping stations South Ward 3 and South Ward 4, planning and construction in Calcasieu Parish with an additional $4 million in future Priority 5 funding for a total investment of $4.9 million;

• $4.5 million in Priority 2 funding for construction of cargo facilities for the Lafayette Airport Commission, planning and construction in Lafayette Parish;

• $340,000 in Priority 2 funding for Sherman Fine Arts Building, renovation of existing space, planning and construction at McNeese State University in Calcasieu Parish with an additional $4.06 million in future priority 5 funding for a total investment of $4.4 million;

• $350,000 in Priority 2 funding for Contraband Bayou erosion retaining wall Phase II at McNeese State University, planning and construction in Calcasieu Parish with an additional $3.875 million in future Priority 5 funding for a total investment of $4.225 million;

• $200,000 in Priority 2 funding for Youngsville Community Center planning and construction in Lafayette Parish with an additional $2.8 million in future Priority 5 funding for a total investment of $3 million;

• $3 million in future Priority 5 funding for Atchafalaya Basin protection and enhancement in Assumption, Avoyelles, Iberia, Iberville, Pointe Coupee, St. Landry, St. Martin, St. Mary parishes;

• $150,000 in Priority 2 funding for three-lane LA 182 in Broussard, planning and construction in Lafayette Parish with an additional $2.1 million in future Priority 5 funding for a total investment of $2.25 million;

• $500,000 in Priority 2 funding for Mississippi River levee raising, Arkansas to Old River, planning and construction in Avoyelles, Concordia, East Carroll, Madison, Pointe Coupee, Tensas parishes with an additional $1.5 million in future Priority 5 funding for a total investment of $2 million;

• $2 million in future Priority 5 funding for Frazar Memorial Library renovation and repairs, planning and construction at McNeese State University in Calcasieu Parish;

• $1.075 million in Priority 2 funding for Progress Point Business Park and Airport Gateway, land acquisition in Iberia Parish;

• $1.05 million in future Priority 5 funding for Dequincy City Hall, planning and construction in Calcasieu Parish;

• $1 million in Priority 2 funding for Health and Human Performance Education Complex, planning and construction at McNeese State University in Calcasieu Parish;

• $1 million in Priority 2 funding for Lake End Parkway cabins in Morgan City, planning and construction in St. Mary Parish;

• $750,000 in Priority 2 funding for Ellis and Linda Drive improvements in Westlake, planning and construction in Calcasieu Parish;

• $520,000 in Priority 2 funding for five lane road extension from La. 675 to La. 3212, planning and construction in Iberia Parish;

• $500,000 in Priority 2 funding for Alpha Hall reno-vations, planning and con-struction at McNeese State University in Calcasieu Parish;

• $460,000 in Priority 2 funding for installation of culverts and associated infrastructure in Middle Road Drainage Canal in Bayou Vista for Sub-Gravity Drainage District 1 and Gravity Drainage District 2, planning and construction in St. Mary Parish;

• $450,000 in Priority 2 funding for water distribution and storage system improvements in Delcambre, planning and construction in Vermillion Parish;

• $400,000 in Priority 2 funding for Lumas Road, rlanning and construction in Beauregard Parish;

• $350,000 in Priority 2 funding for sewer upgrades in St. Martinville, planning and construction in St. Martin Parish;

• $300,000 in Priority 2 funding for command and control center at city docks at the Port of Lake Charles in Calcasieu Parish;

• $300,000 in Priority 2 funding for National Hurri-cane Museum and Science Center in Lake Charles in Calcasieu Parish;

• $250,000 in Priority 2 funding for community recreation building and shelter in DeRidder, planning and construction, acquisition and rehabilitation in Beauregard Parish;

• $250,000 in Priority 2 funding for planning, permitting, engineering and right of way acquisition for the Iberia Hurricane Protec-tion Master Plan in Iberia Parish;

• $250,000 in Priority 2 funding for rehabilitate La. 182 from U.S. 90 to La. 89, planning and construction in Lafayette Parish;

• $200,000 in Priority 2 funding for road improve-ments on Four-Mile Bayou Road, planning and construction in St. Martin Parish;

• $200,000 in Priority 2 funding for Vinton Street improvements in Calcasieu Parish;

• $195,000 in Priority 2 funding for Industrial Canal Dockside monopile improve-ments at the Port of Lake Charles, planning and con-struction in Calcasieu Parish;

• $195,000 in Priority 2 funding for hurricane evacuations and Homeland Security coordination and related renovations, planning and construction in St. Landry Parish;

• $150,000 in Priority 2 funding for street improve-ments in Gueydan, planning and construction ($112,000 local match) in Vermillion Parish;

• $150,000 in Priority 2 funding for reconstruction of South Bernard Road from La. 182 to U.S 90 in Broussard, planning and construction in Lafayette Parish;

• $150,000 in Priority 2 funding for infrastructure improvements at the Cha-renton Canal Industrial Park in St. Mary Parish;

• $150,000 in Priority 2 funding for road extension from Sidney Blanchard Road to Ed Broussard Road, plan-ning and construction in Iberia Parish;

• $150,000 in Priority 2 funding for public safety complex in Kaplan, planning and construction in Vermil-lion Parish;

• $125,000 in Priority 2 funding for Louisiana Emer-gency Medical Unit Storage Facility, planning and con-struction in Lafayette Parish;

• $100,000 in Priority 2 funding for recreational complex planning and construction in Iberia Parish;

• $65,000 in Priority 2 funding for Loreauville Wastewater Treatment Plant improvements and demolition project, planning and construction in Iberia Parish;

• $60,000 in Priority 2 funding for Grand Coteau Police and Utility depart-ments upgrades, including roof, air conditioning, and water well in St. Landry Parish;

• $60,000 in Priority 2 funding for Scott Events Center, planning and con-struction in Lafayette Parish;

• $50,000 in Priority 2 funding for Loreauville water tower improvements, planning and construction in Iberia Parish;

• $40,000 in Priority 2 funding for Third Street West Bridge repair, planning and construction in Jefferson Davis Parish;

• $25,000 in Priority 2 funding for water system improvements, planning and construction in Beauregard Parish.
