Smith-Crappell exchange wedding vows Nov. 19
Heather Marie Smith and Casey Reed Crappell were united in holy matrimony Nov. 19 during a 6 p.m. double-ring ceremony at First Baptist Church in Morgan City. The Rev. Kendall Gilmer officiated.
The bride is the daughter of Blas and Cynthia Juarez of Morgan City. The groom is the son of Reed and Penny Crappell of Berwick.
For the ceremony, the church was decorated with large bouquets of gladiolus, burnt orange roses, snapdragons and curly willow.
Escorted in marriage by her father, the bride wore a gown designed with a satin, sweetheart bodice covered in crossing layers of tulle. The skirt featured asymmetrical layers of cream tulle and a sweep train.
Gracing her head was a crystal hair clip.
She carried a clutch bouquet of silk rose buds in burnt orange with a rhinestone band around the stems.
Ashlyn Chiasson was maid of honor and Maria Arthur was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Hilary Patton, Amy Reed, Emily Dekerlegand, Erin Donnely, Sarah Mayon, Kristen Wiggins and Chancie Clements. Junior bridesmaid was Kathryn Guillory.
Attendants carried a smaller version of the bride’s bouquet.
Flower girl Jenna Pinho carried a silk pomander of rose buds in burnt orange.
Drake Smith was ringbearer.
Best man was Brock Landry. Groomsmen were Duval Arthur, Douglas Smith, Cody Chiasson, Luke Billiot, Daniel Scott, Jimmy Lemoine, Douglas Lemoine and Trey Smith. Junior groomsman was Dylan Mayon.
Ushers were Marty Chatman, Andrew Smith and Jeremy Vedros.
A reception followed at the Berwick Civic Complex.
Guest tables held centerpieces of blooming branches in varying heights. Bistro tables held vases with floating candles.
The bride’s cake was a five-tiered confection in asymmetrical shapes decorated with navy ribbons and diamond vintage brooches.
The groom’s red velvet cake with cream cheese filling depicted an alligator.
Helping serve the cakes were Dale Crappell, aunt of the groom and Diane Parfait, aunt of the bride.
Prior to the wedding, the groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at Café JoJo’s in Morgan City.
The bride graduated Morgan City High School and Nicholls State University in Thibodaux with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. She is a teacher at Bayou Vista Elementary School.
The groom graduated Berwick High School. He attended McNeese State University and NSU on a baseball scholarship. He is employed with Crappell’s Fish Market.
They honeymooned in Montego Bay, Jamaica, and reside in Berwick.
