Sheriff: Sex offender arrested on non-notification charge
PATTERSON, La. -- A 35-year-old woman was arrested Monday for failing to notify law enforcement of an address change for the second time, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Mark Hebert said in a news release.
—Sonia Todd, 35, no address given, was arrested at 6:30 p.m. Monday on a warrant for failure to notify law enforcement of a change of address as a sex offender, second offense. A deputy responded to a disturbance at a residence on Shannon Street in Patterson where they located Todd who was wanted on the above warrant. In 2011, Todd was convicted of contributing to the delinquency of juveniles by performing sexually immoral acts. Todd was taken to the parish jail and held. No bail is set.
Hebert reported responding to 33 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:
—Justin Oblanc, 30, of the 900 block of Florence Street in Jennings, was arrested at 12:07 p.m. Monday for theft of goods. A deputy responded to a complaint of shoplifting at a store in Bayou Vista. While en route, the deputy received information that the shoplifter had driven away from the store. Using the vehicle description provided by the complainant, the deputy located the vehicle and detained the driver who was identified as Oblanc. Upon arrival at the store, the deputy learned from personnel that Oblanc could be seen on video surveillance leaving without paying for items. The value of the stolen goods totaled more than $100. Oblanc was taken to the parish jail and held. He was released on $1,000 bail.
—Two juvenile males, both 16, of Patterson, were arrested at 1:33 p.m. Monday for disturbing the peace by fighting. The two juveniles were arrested after getting into a fight at Patterson High School.
—Crystal Duhon, 40, of the 100 block of Railroad Avenue in Patterson, was arrested at 1:48 p.m. Monday on a warrant for theft. Duhon came to the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office in Morgan City and was advised of the warrant for her arrest. She was taken to the parish jail and held. She was released on $1,000 bail.
Morgan City Police Chief Travis Crouch reported the following arrest:
—A 14-year-old female juvenile was arrested at 12:07 p.m. Monday for battery of a school teacher.
Officers responded to a complaint of a student attempting to leave school grounds at Morgan City Junior High School without permission, Crouch said.
Officers were summoned to the office area of the school to assist. The juvenile was detained, and officers were advised that she was being escorted to the office area for a disturbance and became combative toward teachers and faculty, striking a faculty member, Crouch said. The student was taken to the police department and released to family members pending court proceedings.
Berwick Police Chief James Richard reported the following arrest:
—Joshua Vining, 17, of Francis Street in Berwick, was arrested at 6:15 p.m. Monday for simple battery. Vining is still being held on $150 bail.
Patterson Police Chief Patrick LaSalle reported no arrests.
