MORGAN CITY, La. — A 60-year-old Morgan City man was arrested Friday by Morgan City police on 11 different drug charges after detectives executed a search warrant at a residence stemming from an investigation into a sexual assault and the use of illegal narcotics, according to Police Chief Travis Crouch.

Peter Matthew Spinella Jr., 60, of Village Lane in Morgan City, was arrested at 2:32 p.m. Friday for possession of schedule III CDS-hydrocodone, possession of schedule IV CDS-clonazepam and possession of schedule IV CDS-diazepam, possession of schedule IV CDS-temazepam, possession of schedule IV CDS-lorabepam, possession of schedule III CDS-testosterone cypinate, possession of schedule III CDS-zutripro, possession of schedule II-CDS-oxycodone, possession of schedule II CDS-methamphetamine and possession of schedule I-CDS-marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

A search warrant stemmed from an investigation into a sexual assault and the use of illegal narcotics, which was alleged to have occurred at that residence, Crouch stated.

During the search of the residence, several controlled dangerous substances were recovered including suspected methamphetamine, Crouch stated.

Several other items of evidence were recovered at the scene. The investigation of the sexual assault is continuing and additional charges may follow, pending the results of that investigation, according to Crouch.

Spinella was taken to city jail and then transported to a local hospital after complaining of physical distress. He remains hospitalized under guard with bail set at $125,000.
