School, community choirs to sing
A joint concert of the Morgan City High School Choir, Tuneweavers and elementary gifted singers will be held Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Morgan City Municipal Auditorium.
The groups will sing together on several selections, including Toto’s “Africa,” “As Time Goes By” from “Casablanca,” “Celebrate with Music” and others. The choirs will also sing individually.
The concert is the culmination of a music advocacy project of the MCHS Choir called “Let the Children Sing.” In the fall, choir members met with elementary school students at the park to sing and play music games.
In April, the MCHS choir traveled to all the elementary public schools in Morgan City to present a music program which entertained and encouraged the students to actively participate in music.
The project ends with Thursday’s final concert, which is intended to promote music awareness and the effects of music in the education of children.
Admission to the concert is free to the public.
