School board taking lunch fees online
Effective Sept. 1, parents of students in the St. Mary Parish School System can pay for their children’s meals electronically.
The St. Mary Parish School Board has retained the services of School Payment Solutions to complete the work.
With the change, parents will be able to pay for school meals with a credit card or electronic check by creating an account on www.schoolpaymentsolutions.com.
A recurring payment option is available, too.
Transactions and funds are distributed to individual schools and the school board daily.
Users of the new program will be allowed to view their children’s account balances and transaction history and monitor what their child is purchasing at the cafeteria.
Program officials said the system includes online data protection and sends e-mail reminders and low balance notifications to parents.
Free and reduced lunch plans are handled through the account, too.
The website charges parents a $2.75 convenience fee per transaction.
Using the new payment system, school lunch menus will be posted online at www.schoolpaymentsolutions.com.
Also, administrators will have a log-in to assist parents with specific account inquiries.
