Quartet will play in FNS All-Star game

Four local prep seniors will get at least one more shot to play on the baseball diamond when they participate in HTV 10’s Friday Night Sports’ annual High School Baseball All-Star game on Saturday at Nicholls State University.
Morgan City’s Brodie Anslum, Brennan Scully and Nicholas Gagliano, as well as Patterson’s Jaydrick DeClouet, will join a team made up of players from schools in Classes 4A, 3A and 1A. They will face a team made up of athletes from Class 5A schools. Both teams are made up of athletes from Assumption, St. Mary, Terrebonne and Lafourche parishes.
Morgan City head coach Marc Gonzales will serve as an assistant.
The doubleheader will begin with the first game at Ray Didier Field at 11 a.m. An opening ceremony will be held between both games followed by game two, which is set to begin at approximately 2 p.m.
A home run derby was held on Thursday at E.D. White High School.
College and professional scouts are expected to attend the game.
Both teams feature talent that will be playing on the next level.
The Class 4A, 3A and 1A team features E.D. White’s Alex Becnel (Nicholls State), South Terrebonne’s Zachary LeBeouf (Nicholls) and Zach Hebert (Togaloo College) and Britt Pellegrin (Loyola-New Orleans), DeClouet (Louisiana Tech football signee who will be given an opportunity to further his baseball career in Ruston), Covenant Christian Academy’s Zack Hawkes (Togaloo College), Braxton Matthews (Togaloo College) and Jacob Neil (Delgado Community College).
The Class 5A team features Central Lafourche’s Jordan P. Caillouet (Delgado Community College) and Jace Cheramie (Nicholls State) and Thibodaux’s Bo Ockman (Nicholls).
