QB Louviere runs wild in Chiefs' win
MORGAN CITY — Chiefs’ quarterback Collin Louviere ran wild in leading his squad to a 42-29 victory against the Saints in Atchafalaya Youth Football League action Saturday at Tiger Stadium.
Louviere rushed for a mindboggling 278 yards and scored five touchdowns in the win. He scored from 90, 45, 38, 29 and 27 yards.
In Saturday’s second game, the Vikings defeated the Colts, 22-0.
Other top performers in the Chiefs’ win included Joshua Jones, a 25-yard kickoff return and 51 yards rushing, including a 6-yard touchdown; Trevon Francois, a 32-yard kickoff return; and Trey Derouen, three point-after attempts for six points.
On defense, solid contributions were turned in by Ethan Scully, who recovered a fumble; as well as Ronnie Hatcher, Amarea Christopher, Derouen, Kim Crappell, John C. Hebert and Marguil Singleton.
Morrquise Charles rushed for 107 yards for the Saints, including touchdown runs of 25 and three yards.
He also caught passes for four and 70 yards and kicked two point-after attempts for four points.
Quarterback Logan Tingle rushed for 78 yards, including a 12-yard touchdown and completed a 4-yard pass to Dede Gant.
In addition to his reception, Gant rushed for 75 yards and completed passes for 70 and 4 yards.
Other standouts included Jean Pat Dupuy, 48 rushing yards, including a 27-yard touchdown, and a point-after attempt; and Brooks Thomas, a 26-yard kickoff return.
On defense, solid efforts were turned in by Dylan Tingle, Jarayle Thomas, Brooks Thomas and Joseph Terry.
In the Vikings’ win, Mitchell Frederick rushed for 35 yards, including a 4-yard touchdown, while he completed three passes totaling 39 yards to Cade Thibodeaux. One of the passes was a 4-yard touchdown.
Frederick also was successful on two point-after attempts for four points.
Other Vikings’ contributors included Reid Wiley, 75 rushing yards, including a 29-yard touchdown; Barrett Hover, 43 yards rushing; and Lucas Hatch, a 3-yard touchdown run.
Solid defense was recorded by Adam Askew, who had two fumble recoveries; Seth Giroir, who had a fumble recovery; and Barrett Hover, Jake Srigley, Michael Aucoin, Grayson Wells and Bryston Ezernack.
For the Colts, Reginald Talver rushed for 35 yards and Drekel Boutte rushed for and 31 yards.
On defense, solid performances were turned in by Jaymioun Butler, Darrius Lucas, Khyre Willis and Robert Schexnayder.
The Atchafalaya Football League season will conclude Saturday with the annual Turkey Bowl at Tiger Stadium in Morgan City.
In the 9 a.m. matchup, the fourth-place Saints will play the third-place Chiefs, while at 10:30 a.m., the second-place Colts will play the first-place Vikings.
