Program to link school to community meets today in Morgan City
MORGAN CITY, La. — A program seeking to create connections between a school, the community it serves and the businesses it hopes to one day supply with workers — is to meet today.
Bridges — Building Relationships, Increasing Development, Growing Educational Success — is the brainchild of educators Tammilee M. Kelly and Michelle South. It is part of an educational leadership master’s program for the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
“The overall arching goal is to get our whole community more involved with our school and also to get our students more involved with the community,” Kelly said.
The first meeting a month ago was informational.
Today’s meeting is to construct a needs assessment survey.
After that, the information from the survey will be analyzed to guide the work of the committee, Kelly said.
Today’s meeting is at 6 p.m. in the Morgan City High School library for any city or business leader, school sponsors and pre-selected students and parents.
