Port gets $150,000 for industrial park
A $150,000 grant has been attained by the West St. Mary Port commission from the Delta Regional Authority.
Proceeds will go to development of the industrial park on the Charenton Navigation and Drainage Canal, Executive Director David Allain said.
Allain also noted that the port’s master plan study is about 75 percent complete. He said developers believe it will be complete by year’s end.
In the 2013 proposed port budget, Allain said $55,000 has been allocated for the plan. If the plan is complete before the end of 2012, it may be paid for out of the current budget.
The commission also welcomed new member Joseph Tabb to the panel. He was appointed by the St. Mary Parish Council to fill the seat left by commissioner John Lockett who recently resigned. Tabb is an attorney with the Aloise, Baudry and Tabb law firm in Franklin.
