Port commission will meet Monday
Discussion of property purchases and maintenance and new construction at the port highlight the Morgan City Harbor and Terminal District’s monthly meeting Monday.
The commission will discuss St. Mary Parish Government’s purchase of property for development of a new road as well as the purchase of property in Berwick.
The port will discuss selling the property to the parish government to build a road from Baker Hughes’ facility that will intersect an unnamed road on the west side of the port office. The new road will allow trucks traveling to these industrial areas to bypass residential areas.
The commission also will discuss mold and moisture that has developed in unoccupied spaces of the port’s office; the design, bid package and construction of a boat ramp in the dock area of the port’s facility; and any action regarding repairs or improvements to the port’s office building, including façade, painting, paving and awnings.
The board also will discuss a possible application with the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery grant for port improvements.
Commissioners also will meet in executive session to discuss security personnel, plans or devices related to U.S. Department of Homeland Security programs.
Also on Monday’s agenda is the discussion of:
—An agreement with James Purpera for consulting services.
—Payment application 6 for $376,040 for Phase 3 of the InterMoor project as well as a third and fourth change order for Phase 3.
—Discussion on a contract with Moffatt & Nichol Inc.
Monday’s meeting with begin at 5 p.m. at the port office at 800 Youngs Road.
